چکیده

The one-dimensional Barkhausen effect was observed in lithographically defined magnetic strips of Co/Pd multilayer films. The magnetic domain expanded stepwise with a constant speed between pinning sites. Both the wall propagation and the pinning were characterized by the thermal activation process based on their exponential dependency on the strength of the applied magnetic field. The Barkhausen volume was determined to be 1.7 10−13 cm3, which was several orders larger than the activation volume of the wall propagation, 6.5 10−18 cm3. © 2006 American Institute of Physics. Power-law scaling behavior in Barkhausen avalanches of ferromagnetic thin films

We report direct domain observations of Barkhausen avalanches at criticality in Co and MnAs thin films investigated by means of a magneto-optical microscope magnetometer, capable of time-resolved domain observation in real time. Through a statistical analysis of the fluctuating size of Barkhausen jump from numerous repetitive experiments for each sample, the distribution of Barkhausen jump size...

Power-Law Scaling Behavior in Barkhausen Avalanches of 2D Ferromagnetic Films

It is recognized that the magnetization reverses with a sequence of discrete and jerky jumps, known as the Barkhausen effect. Recently, interest in the Barkhausen effect has grown as it is a good example of dynamical critical scaling behavior, evidenced by experimental observation of a power law distribution of the Barkhausen jump size. So far, most experimental studies have been carried out on...

Direct observation of Barkhausen avalanche in Co thin films.

We report direct full-field magneto-optical observations of Barkhausen avalanches in Co polycrystalline thin films at criticality. We provide experimental evidence for the validity of a phenomenological model of the Barkhausen avalanche originally proposed by Cizeau, Zapperi, Durin, and Stanley [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 4669 (1997)]], where the model describes a 180 degrees -type flexible domain wa...

X-ray diffraction measurements were performed on Co?Pt1-?/Pd, Co/Pd, Co/Fe, and Co/W multilayer samples with different structures, such as Co?Pt1-? alloy layer composition ?, bilayer thickness, and number of bilayers. Multilayer samples were made by magnetron sputtering in a chamber with multi-parallel guns and a position controllable substrate. Co?Pt1-? alloy layers were deposited by cosputter...

Spatially nonuniform local magnetization switching behavior in CoÕPd multilayer films

We report the experimental finding that magnetization reversal of ferromagnetic thin films exhibits a spatially nonuniform dependence on the strength of a reversing applied field on a submicrometer scale. Field dependence of local magnetization switching time was determined from the local magnetization viscosity curves triggered by various strengths of a reversing applied field, respectively on...
